A Summary Of Me As A Designer.

I realised after compiling my folder that I like a lot of different things. Within my folder I have eco friendly fashion, hand printed greetings cards, artist books, fashion illustrations, interiors, newspaper cuttings, natural, earthy, and bright bold colours. The thing they all have in common is that they are all handmade or have a handmade quality whether it is the texture, the colour, or the material. I think I am more interested in these things over the actual design. The one thing that will probably never appear in my folder is floral designs, as I personally, tired of seeing flowers on my wall or dress. There are so many more natural forms, which haven’t been considered yet.
I see myself as a paper based designer; however I love to look at fashion for inspiration for colours and textures; simple designs, either block colours or simple shapes, with beautiful detailing, such as the buttons, or the lining or even a contrasting coloured thread to stitch together. Something I want to explore more is ‘green’ design. It is a growing issue and although the idea of sustainability has been around since the 1980’s, it is only recently designers have been demanding and using eco-friendly materials. Personally, I find these designs much more exciting and hope I can be involved in it too. Another great interest I have is exploring colour. Many of my images in my file are because of the colours and the colour combinations, whether they are harmonious or complementary.
