During one of my lectures in my foundation course, we talked about the Festival Of Britain in 1951. The advances in scientific technology, allowed scientists, for the first time, to see what an atom, or molecule actually looked like and the structures of different compunds, such as insulin. The scientists collaborated with designers and workes with the shapes to create designs for wallpaper, rugs, lace, ceramics, etc. If anyone is interested check out this website, which has loads more images and more information on the effects on other areas, such as graphic design etc.
