Michael Craig- Martin. By Laura Thornton.

Michael Craig- Martin is a conceptual artist. His work is based on everyday items from around the house or work. The pieces are created in the stylised drawing technique he is known for.
Larger pieces of work such as the work seen at the Intelligence show at Tate Britain are developed over entire room made up in bright colours and using black tape to outline.

Michael Craig- Martin may be the most recognised for the piece named An Oak Tree, which is essentially a glass of water on a white shelf. He believes the water can be an oak tree because he says it is one.... He believes that society has been taught what things are so when he says a glass of water on a shelf is an oak tree.. It simply is one.. I personally prefer his more colourful pieces, especially when they are on a large scale.
