Well I think you intended for us to talk about one of the artists books throughout the college, but the book which I was most inspired by was the book of list by a fellow student, so I am going to write about that instead. This book particularly got my creative juices flowing because I have never since a book like it. What I mean by this is all other books that Ive seen have been boring computer printed books. I now realise that other books like this hand-made list book do exist but Ive just never had the chance to come into contact with them.
The hand-made quality of this book makes it so special, there's something about it that makes it feel like a precious gem. I held it like a fragile object yet was so intrigued by the surfaces and texture I had to touch it. The front cover tells you exactly what is held between its pages. The tea stained paper and almost burnt on title of the book make it look old and delicate. Each page shows a new technique or drawing, making you want to keep turning the pages. The layering and careful composition of each page has given me inspiration and ideas for my own book. I am also hoping my book/s will have the same sense of time and care put into them as this beautiful book.
