Perfect timing. As the winter sale collection departs from Harrods the spring collection emerges. Amongst the dull colours and copious amounts of black, hints of bright colours are beginning to hit the rail. Then I am presented with ‘The Dress’. Every passer-by stops their post Christmas shopping splurges to admire this creation by Kenzo. I hope at this point that this dress is representative of the approaching spring theme. What hangs in front of me is a one-shoulder silk printed garment set in a very pale mint green. From the waist downwards are fushia centred flowers with sporadic splashes of yellow and pastel pink paint. Above the tapered waistband are gold spots covered in a metallic veil. The combination of these two patterns, as unusual a choice they may be, compliment each other perfectly. The shoulder tie is covered in the floral pattern and hangs against the dress perfectly. If my description has not done ‘The Dress’ justice, then perhaps the £520 price tag will reflect the delicacy and intricacy of the patterns.
